Video surveillance in the farm and personal subsidiary plots

Having installed a video surveillance system based on EZ-IP cameras on the territory of the farm, the owner gets the opportunity to a whole range of problems related to ensuring the safety of assets.

Farms located in rural areas are subject to a number of specific risks. First of all, building materials and structural elements located on the territory, feed and fertilizers, finished products and containers traditionally attract attackers, in some cases armed with the latest technologies (up to drones with Distributor CCTV). If there are hired workers in the economy, manifestations of sabotage on their part, as well as theft of material assets, are not excluded. In the latter case, actions by conspiracy are especially dangerous, which can cause significant damage to the owner: it is often not possible to establish the real circumstances of the incident due to the lack of evidence. When placed at the facility, production equipment may be damaged or disabled by negligence - this also applies to products and infrastructure elements. It is also not always possible to prove someone's negligence in order to bring the culprit to justice. This does not exhaust the list of threats associated with farming in rural areas - for example, damage can be caused by cruelty to livestock, unauthorized use of poisonous and biologically active substances, etc.

Video surveillance in the farm and personal subsidiary plots

Having installed a video surveillance system based on EZ-IP cameras on the territory of the farm, the owner gets the opportunity to a whole range of problems related to ensuring the safety of assets. Real-time surveillance and the formation of a video archive of events allow, in addition, to take into account the work carried out, keep statistics on weather conditions, record the actions of personnel, the movement of equipment and animals.

One or several EZ-IP surveillance cameras with wide-angle optics and four-megapixel resolution will allow you to get a comprehensive picture of what is happening on the territory of the farm at any time. The EZ-IPC-D2B40-ZS model has proven itself well as a general view camera in the “small agricultural industry”.

This network camera, which connects to a conventional computer Ethernet network, is weatherproof and shockproof, has a built-in IR illumination with a range of up to 30 meters and allows you to remotely readjust the angle of view, if necessary, thanks to a motorized zoom lens. Vandal resistance in remote locations is becoming a critical consideration when choosing equipment: the IK10 dome camera cannot be turned away from the subject, and it cannot cover the lens or knock it off the mount base.

In addition to the general view of the scene, the system can be advantageously supplemented by local EZ-IP cameras in key areas of the facility - in particular, cameras that capture gates, garage doors, sheds and corrals, as well as areas for placing equipment, storage of materials and products. Such cameras can have built-in analytics, and smart algorithms will save the user from the need to conduct vigilant surveillance personally. In particular, the EZ-IPC-B1B20P-LED model allows you to set up to four rectangular zones for automatic motion detection in the image. In addition, the video generated by the cameras is protected by watermarks, which excludes the possibility of forgery when providing records to the courts as evidence.

With the accumulation of archives for a long time, the savings in data storage becomes important. In the absence of wired connections to an Internet provider, which is typical for rural areas and low-rise urban development, the requirement to save cellular traffic is added to this task. The most proven way to minimize the amount of information transmitted and stored is the use of the highly efficient H.265 codec. Recently, many EZ-IP camera models use various modifications of this codec. For example, in the already mentioned network camera EZ-IPC-B1B20P-LED, in addition to the enhanced version of the H.265 + codec, smart coding is also used, which is based on the automatic detection of regions of interest in the scene. As a result, areas of the image where there is no object movement are captured in video at a lower frame rate - and this leads to a direct saving of the digital data stream.

An important feature that can greatly facilitate the operation of the monitoring system for private household plots / peasant farms is remote access to images and the ability to directly record data into the "cloud", as implemented in the EZ-IPC-B3B41 camera. Access to the device is also possible from smartphones and tablets running Apple iOS / iPadOS and Google Android - that is, from any place where it is possible to provide a wireless Internet connection.
